VYPER's Monthly Cultural Nights - Finished for 2025 / 2026 Academic Year. See you in September!

Location: Mamele’awt Indigenous Education Centre 3277 Gladwin Road Abbotsford

No matter what your background is, you are welcome at our weekly cultural nights! This truly is an event where everyone is welcome to learn and belong. We start the evening with a prayer, followed by a feast sponsored by the Abbotsford School District. The evening consists of games, dancing, and a whole lotta good medicine!

We offer free vendor spots to all vendors
You are welcome to come set up beginning at 4:00

Vendor spots usually line the hallway, or if there is no space, then there are limited spots available in the gym
Note – we are not currently accepting applications for food vendors.

How Culture Nights Came to Be

After the first Reclaiming Youth Powwow, Berkley Baker had the idea to start culture nights for the community, so that we could keep the good medicine of the powwow going. No one wanted it to be over! So Berkley made arrangements for culture nights to begin every week in Abbotsford, with the support of the Abbotsford School District and Fraser Valley Metis Society. Berkley moved on to new things, and Marcella Sunshine and Nicole Provost took over culture nights, and ran them together for 3 years. After the 4th Reclaiming Youth Powwow, when we had a team of Indigenous youth running the event, the youth said the same thing we had said 4 years earlier “we don’t want it to be over!” So Nicole and Marcella decided to teach those same youth how to run culture nights. In 2026, the event was fully taken over by a new generation of youth, and the rest is history!!!
